2016 Leading Green Building Trends ~ Infographic.
Energy efficient eco-friendly residential and commercial construction is becoming the mainstream of building. This infographic shows the trends for what is hot in green building for 2016 put together by Citizens General Insurance. Here are a few of the hot items this year:-
- Net Positive Energy Homes – Net Zero energy homes where the ticket last year now these homes actually produce more energy than they use with today’s advancements in building products, materials and construction techniques.
- Cool Roofs – absorb less heat and reflect sunlight away with new advance roofing materials thus keeping the entire building cooler.
- Steel Framing – Steel can be recycled again and again and a two thousand square foot two story home can be framed from the recycle of six cars.
- Landscaping – Using local type plants you can create a yard that uses less water, pesticides that requires less maintenance. A properly designed drip irrigation system can use 30 to 40 % less water than standard systems.
